Volunteer Opportunities

We credit our Volunteers who serve on our Board of Directors and Committees with building the foundation for our success, and applaud them for their genuine commitment to our organization.

Our Board and Committee Members have enabled Chartway to strengthen its position as an industry leader in quality, innovation and most of all, service.

Committees

Each committee has a particular focus and specialization. All Volunteers are expected to regularly attend their respective committee meetings, in-house workshops, and planning meetings, as appropriate. Committees will research and develop recommended action and policies for Board consideration.

Asset/Liability Management Committee (12hr/yr.)

Implements investment policies, evaluates investment alternatives, and recommends financial management strategies to the Board. The committee meets on a quarterly basis and volunteer committee members provide an approximate 12 hours of service per year.

Governance, Policy & Ethics Committee (12hr/yr.)

Provides input and oversight regarding Board governance, policies & ethics of the Credit Union. The committee meets four to six times a year and volunteer committee members provide an approximate 12 hours of service per year.

Legislative/Regulatory & Advocacy Committee (18hr/yr.)

Leads and manages the Credit Union’s efforts and resources to include the Board, Volunteers, and selected team members in making our Credit Union a leader in addressing credit union legislative issues in all the locations we have a presence. The committee meets four to six times a year and volunteer committee members provide an approximate 18 hours of service per year.

Loan Review Committee (4hr/yr.)

Reviews and decisions denied loans following a member’s written request. The committee reviews loans electronically and may serve an approximate four hours per year.

Supervisory Committee (40hr/yr.)

Examines / evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control and the quality of performance in carrying out assigned responsibilities. The committee meets quarterly and volunteer committee members provide approximate four to six hours of service per month based on availability.

Volunteer Recruitment & Development Committee (8hr/yr.)

Develops, plans and assists with the recruitment and development of volunteers and their retention. This committee also administers the Volunteer Advanced Training Program to work with volunteers who have a desire to progress their education through an advanced training track. The committee meets four to six times a year and volunteer committee members provide an approximate 12 hours of service per year.

Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) (18 – 20 hr./yr.)

A Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) is an organization formed and/or owned by one or more credit union(s) to provide a specific product or service within the industry. CUSOs provide credit unions a means by which to spur innovation, increase efficiencies through specialization, and gain economies of scale. A CUSO can offer a variety of financial and operational services to complement the Credit Union’s products and services.

Our CUSO consists of a Board of Directors and the CUSO is looking for volunteers that have interest in serving on a committee to help develop the business and operations of our CUSO’s. The CUSO committees may meet four to six times a year and volunteer committee members provide an approximate 18 to 24 hours of service per year.
