Community Impact

Chartway's strong sense of social responsibility is rooted in the credit union philosophy of "people helping people" and aligns with our core values. In addition to our charitable arm, the Chartway Promise Foundation, we strengthen all of our communities through financial education, charitable donations, volunteerism, scholarship programs, local sponsorships and internship programs.  Through these committments, we make authentic and meaningful connections with our members, communities and each other.

Chartway Promise Foundation

Knowing that no success is complete without giving back to the communities in which we serve, we have built an award-winning charitable arm, the Chartway Promise Foundation. Working together, we have raised nearly $15 million in funding to provide medically fragile children and their families memorable experiences that bring them joy, hope, and smiles.  Want to help us on our mission?

Directors' Memorial Scholarship Program

Chartway's scholarship program was created in 1989 by our board members to promote and support educational advancement within the credit union's membership. Since its inception, the Directors' Memorial Scholarship Program has awarded more than $350,000 to 188 deserving student members. The scholarships are awarded annually to members pursuing graduate or undergraduate degrees, or those returning to complete their degrees at a college or graduate school, regardless of age. Receipients are selected based on academic performance, a written essay, and a letter of recommendation.

A Culture of Volunteerism

We aim to make a positive impact in the communities we serve because helping others is core to our culture. Our team members are passionate about volunteering -- from supporting the Chartway Promise Foundation, to cleaning up parks, to visiting sick children, to helping in the local food bank -- we all care about pitching in to build a brighter future.  Everyone who works for Chartway can take TWO PAID DAYS each year to volunteer in the community -- a benefit that sets Chartway apart and makes people want to work for us.
