Lehi, UT (June 7, 2017) – Last month, a full flight of golfers teed off at Thanksgiving Point Golf Course for an inspirational event: the 2nd Annual Putting for Promises Golf Tournament hosted by Chartway Federal Credit Union’s We Promise Foundation. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and supporters, the event raised $58,000 to provide life-changing experiences that bring joy, hope, and smiles to children facing medical hardship or illness.

Joining the tournament golfers at the course was the Salt Lake Bees mascot, Bumble the Bee, and several children whose dreams and wishes will be granted as a result of the funds raised during the event. These We Promise heroes arrived by limousine and received cheers and high-fives from sponsors and volunteers as they traveled across a red carpet rolled out just for them. They also had the opportunity to cruise around the course on golf carts – learning from tournament participants how to hold an iron and sink a putt.

“We’re grateful for the generosity of our sponsors, the kindness of our volunteers, and the support of so many who either attended our events or kindly donated items for our raffle packages,” said Phil Richards, chairman of the We Promise Foundation. “We’re also inspired that our supporters had the opportunity to chip-in with children who will benefit from their financial support. Their stories, their perseverance, and their spirit remind us that the dollars we raised don’t just make a difference – the funds will forever change lives.”

The following day, Chartway and its We Promise Foundation joined together with the Salt Lake Bees and Make-A-Wish Utah to surprise 8-year-old Adrian with the chance to throw out the first pitch at the Bees game AND present him with a proclamation scroll, declaring the news that his wish to go to Disney World would be granted.

“We are so grateful for the continued support from the We Promise Foundation who has given $1.3M in charitable grants to Make-a-Wish Utah,” said MAWU CEO Jared Perry. “It is amazing to witness the power of a wish, and because of the generosity of the We Promise Foundation, to have seen this power come to fruition as we told Adrian his wish was being granted.”

Since launching its foundation, Chartway FCU’s We Promise Foundation has raised more than $9,000,000 to make dreams and wishes come to life for children facing medical challenges.
