During this time, several individuals were re-elected by acclamation to the board of directors for 2019-2020. These community leaders and business people are volunteers who are elected by you, Chartway members, to represent your best interests with regard to Chartway activities.
With a vision to provide life-changing experiences that bring joy, hope, and smiles to children facing medical hardship or illness, Chartway’s We Promise Foundation hosted several fundraisers in 2018. From its 13th Annual Diamonds in the Sky Gala to its 3rd Annual Putting 4 Promises Golf Tournament, 20th Annual Charity Golf Classic attended by various public figures like LPGA player Brooke Pancake, among others, the foundation raised more than $825,000.
Chartway is pleased to announce that following regulatory approval from the National Credit Union Administration and approval by a majority vote of the PortAlliance Federal Credit Union (PortAlliance) membership, its merger with PortAlliance officially closed on December 31, 2018.

Chartway recently hosted a Friday Fun Fest to celebrate its newly-remodeled branch located in the Southern Shopping Center in Norfolk, VA. The event featured tailgate-themed activities, giveaways, music, a Shred-it® truck, kid’s activities, and a raffle for a chance to win football tickets that benefited Chartway’s We Promise Foundation.

That’s why we proudly served as the title sponsor for J&A Racing’s Chartway Norfolk Harbor Half Marathon and We Promise Foundation 5K race weekend November 16-18, 2018. The credit union’s charitable arm, the We Promise Foundation, also served as premier charity of the event — receiving a $1 donation per registration from the J&A Racing Foundation.

We are pleased to announce that the National Credit Union Administration has given its approval for PortAlliance Federal Credit Union to merge into Chartway. The proposed merger will now go before the PortAlliance membership for a vote to accept the merger proposal, as agreed on by both credit unions. Combined as Chartway Federal Credit Union, the two Hampton Roads-based organizations would have assets of nearly $2.2B, a membership base of more than 190,000, and a total of 19 branch locations in Hampton Roads and 41 branches nationwide.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and supporters, the 13th Annual We Promise Foundation Gala and 20th Annual Charity Golf Classic events raised $523,000 for We Promise heroes.

For 29 years, the credit union’s Directors’ Memorial Scholarship program has annually awarded scholarships to deserving student members pursuing graduate or undergraduate degrees.
With a goal to make dreams and wishes come to life for children facing medical hardship or illness, our We Promise Foundation recently invited supporters to tee up for a day on the links at its 3rd Annual Putting for Promises Golf Tournament in Lehi, Utah.
