Chartway’s Account Protection Program

Have you ever swiped your debit card only to have the transaction denied for insufficient funds? Have you ever wanted to purchase something online but had your card declined? If you’ve ever experienced anything like this, then you know just how frustrating it can be. 

Chartway’s NEW Account Protection Program is designed to save you the embarrassment and frustration of having your debit card transaction declined at the check-out. When you opt-in to this new program, we can pay for items that would have normally been declined due to insufficient funds up to $100.00.*

How Does the Program Work?
Whenever you use your debit card and there is not enough money in your checking account to clear a transaction, Chartway’s new Account Protection Program can cover your purchases allowing you to buy your items. All you have to do is opt-in to the program. There are no costs to opt-in, and you only pay when you use the program.

Do I Need the Account Protection Program?
No one ever intends to overdraw an account, but things happen—cars break down, groceries run low, and kids need school supplies. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, we may find ourselves with more month than money.  To determine if the Account Protection Program is right for you, ask yourself these questions:

Have I ever experienced an overdraft on my account using my debit card (i.e., was unable to make a purchase due to insufficient funds)?
With the Account Protection Program, your purchases will go through instantly, even when there is not enough money in your account.

Have I ever made a transaction knowing that it would overdraw my account?
Sometimes we get busy and forget to register one purchase in our checkbooks, which throws off everything. If you make a mistake and forget to record a purchase, your Account Protection Plan is your safety net.

Sounds Great! How Do I Sign Up?
In order for us to provide this valuable benefit, you will need to give us permission to pay for your debit card transactions in the event that there are insufficient funds in your account.  Chartway will charge a $30.00 fee each time that you use the Account Protection Program.

» If you decide to opt-in:

  • You DO want us to cover your debit card transactions when there are insufficient funds in your account to cover the transactions.
  • You are willing to incur the fees that we have outlined for this service.
  • You  will be saved the frustration and embarrassment of having your ATM or debit card transaction declined.

» If you decide not to opt-in:

  • You DO NOT want us to cover your everyday debit card transactions when there are insufficient funds in your account.
  • Your debit card transactions may be declined if insufficient funds exist.
