Finishing a 100 mile bike ride is tough. Your legs are rubber. Fatigue sets in. But this is nothing compared to the race of a lifetime: watching your child endure the pain of suffering through a life-threatening illness. Now, parents, friends and the general public can ride for the cause. Registration is now open for riders to participate in The Beach Century Bike Tour at www.beachcenturytour.com, a 100-mile bike ride from Northwest River Park in Chesapeake, Virginia to Main Street in Columbia, North Carolina. The event, which will be held on May 9, 2009, will benefit the We Promise Foundation, whose goal is to put smiles on children’s faces by making their dreams come true.

The tour begins promptly at 7:00am and concludes at 5:00pm, followed by an after-party concert headlined by Rockstar Supernova® Finalist Dilana. This gutsy singer/songwriter has been described as America’s newest “rock vixen,” but offstage, she is quietly committed to helping others—most especially, children.

 "Growing up in South Africa I saw a lot of pain and death,” says Dilana. ”Anything I can do to help…is worthwhile."
