In an effort to raise money for the WePromise Foundation, Chartway Federal Credit Union’s charitable arm, Chartway has turned their annual Cookout into a day of festivities for members and the community! The event will take place Friday, June 13th from Noon to 2:00 pm at the Newtown branch and will include FREE shredding services from Shred It a cookout, plant sale and great giveaways from Hampton Roads newest country station US 106.1 FM. The cookout includes a hamburger or hot dog, chips, drink and dessert for just $5 and the plant sale will include a variety of beautiful hanging plants for $15. Proceeds from the cookout and the plant sale will support the WePromise Foundation. Chartway Board Members will be planting two trees during this event in honor of two department’s accomplishments during the GREEN initiative at Chartway.
“Don’t be a victim of identity theft, bring those old financial statements to Chartway’s Newtown Branch Friday, June 13th and take advantage of FREE shredding services,” explains Ron Burniske, President and CEO of Chartway Federal Credit Union. The first 75 people that sign up for eStatments will receive a reusable Farm Fresh shopping bag during this event. “Our GREEN efforts internally for the last few months have allowed us to set new standards to conserve energy and reduce the use of paper. The GREEN initiative is apart of our commitment to the community and we would like to celebrate with members and the community.”
About the We Promise Foundation®
As the charitable arm of Chartway Federal Credit Union, the We Promise Foundation® is dedicated to Children’s Charities. The foundation provides funding within the communities the credit union serves with a single goal: to put smiles on children’s face by making their dreams come true. The foundation was launched in 2005 following the enduring success of Chartway’s previous golf events. Since 1999, Chartway and its We Promise Foundation® have raised more than $1.6 million in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern Virginia, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Texas Gulf Coast & Louisiana, Families of Autistic Children in Tidewater and other charitable groups in the communities Chartway Federal Credit Union serves.
