Eddie Foshay, a former Toolmaker Foreman from NARF, has announced his retirement from Chartway Federal Credit Union’s Board of Directors after 45 years of service.
Altogether, Eddie’s history with Chartway is rich and significant. He first began volunteering with the credit union in 1963 when he joined the Credit Committee. Following this service, in 1967, he was elected to the Board of Directors. During his time on the Board, his leadership as 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President and Secretary, well prepared him for service as Chairman 1981-1984.
Not only did Eddie contribute greatly to the success of Chartway through his leadership on the Board, but he enjoyed serving on many committees including the New Services Committee, Pension Investment Committee, Investment Committee, Education Committee, Marketing Committee and Human Resource Committee. He was also a Member Officer, as well as Chairman of the Loan Review Committee and what was once Chartway’s Personnel Policies Committee. Even more, he was a founding Board Member of Chartway’s charitable arm, the We Promise Foundation.
Thanks to his commendable commitment both to Chartway and the credit union industry, Eddie was awarded the prestigious “Worker of the Year” award from the Tidewater Chapter of Credit Unions for his outstanding credit union volunteer work. Additionally, he was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors for Newtown Associates and Newtown Associates Mortgage Company (Credit Union Service Organizations). He has also been a long-time volunteer for the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU).
Following Eddie’s retirement announcement, he looks forward to continued participation with the credit union as a Board Emeritus member.
