Chartway Announces New Board of Directors Slate of Officials

Following its 50th Annual Meeting at the Virginia Beach Convention Center this month, Chartway Federal Credit Union announces that the following four individuals were re-elected as members of the 2009-2010 Board of Directors:

E. L. “Lou” Gull, Jr., Chairman of the Board (re-elected to 3-year term):
Lou Gull has served as Chartway’s Chairman of the Board for the past four years and has been a volunteer for Chartway for the past 28 years. Gull was named National Association of Federal Credit Union’s 2008 Volunteer of the Year. When not contributing to the credit union movement, he serves as a Docent with the Hampton Roads Naval Museum in Norfolk, Virginia. He has a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Old Dominion University, is a Vietnam-Era Veteran and retired from Federal Service after 36 years of service. He has been married to his wife Janet for 34 years and they have a daughter Anna and son Adam.

John L. McGrath, Secretary (re-elected to 3-year term):
Jack McGrath has been a volunteer for Chartway for 19 years and has served on its Board for 15 years. During his time of service, he has served and chaired a number of committees, and was awarded the Roy F. Bergengren Award from the Virginia Credit Union League. Retired from the US Navy, McGrath boasts 41 years of service with the Federal Civil Service where he was the Special Projects Officer for the XO, and served in other capacities such as Production Superintendent, Electrician and Analyst positions. He is married with two sons, four granddaughters and one great grandson.

Dallas L. England, Director (re-elected to 3-year term):
Dallas England joined Chartway as a Supervisory Committee member in 1994, and has notably impacted the Credit Union with his participation in Chartway’s Volunteer Advanced Training Program and various committees, chairing the Directors’ Scholarship Committee. England joined Chartway as a volunteer following over 40 years of service for the Federal Civil Service where he was a superintendent of the Naval Aviation Depot in the Ground Test and Flight Department for the F-14 and A-6 Aircraft. He has been married 40 years, and has two children and two grandchildren.

CAPT (Ret.) George Emery Sauer III, Director (elected to 2-year term):
George Sauer joined Chartway in 1987 as the Military Liaison Officer, then served on the Supervisory Committee. He now sits on the New Services Committee and is vice-chairman of the Directors’ Memorial Scholarship Committee. Sauer earned BS degrees from the US Naval Academy, and an MSA from George Washington. His military roles included Business Manager for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Supply Officer of an Aircraft Carrier, Director of Accounting at a Navy inventory control point, and Executive Officer of a Naval Ship. Sauer is a volunteer for the Princess Anne High School Choral Department, and is also an adjunct Business professor at TCC. He was a 1966 graduate of Richmond High School in Indiana, and is the son of George and Dorothy Sauer.

These four re-elections round out Chartway’s entire slate of officials for the 2009-2010 year, which is as follows:
