When will I become a Chartway member?
You already are! Although all your account information remains on the Southern Branch FCU (SB FCU) system, you are now considered a member of Chartway Federal Credit Union
and as such, eligible to take advantage of all of our products and services. We are currently working with the SB FCU system to move all your account information on to ours and look
forward to issuing a Chartway account number to you shortly.
When will my account information move from SB FCU to Chartway?
We are working with the SB FCU system processor to first ensure that all end-of-year reporting is performed correctly. Once this has been completed, we will then transfer your account to a new Chartway account number.
How will my account be moved
Chartway will take care of everything for you electronically – transferring your account information and then issuing you a new Chartway account number. At that time, you will be able to use all of Chartway’s account access services for all your banking needs, including free eBranch Internet Banking and phone services, as well as our extensive branch and ATM network.
Where can I make loan payments or deposits?
You should continue to make all loan payments and deposits at the Southern Branch FCU location at BAE until your account is transferred to Chartway. Once we’ve completed the new account transfers, we will update the SB FCU facility with the Chartway system and
begin adding account services to that site. In addition, with your new Chartway account, you will be able to perform account transactions through any of Chartway’s access services.
Will my loan rates stay the same?
All loans will be transferred to Chartway under the same terms and conditions you have with SB FCU.
Can I get a better rate once I’m on the Chartway system?
Our loan rates are competitive, and there may be instances where we are offering rates and terms that better suit your financial needs. If you would like to look into refinancing any loan, simply call, click or visit to apply.
I currently have automatic payment set up for my SB FCU loan. What will happen when I’m moved to Chartway
Automatic loan payments will be reviewed on an individual account basis. In many
instances, we will be able to move the payment for you. For those situations where we are unable to, we will contact you personally to have you initiate any required changes.
I currently mail my loan payment to the SB FCU branch. Should I change where I send the loan payment?
Until we convert your account, your SB FCU account will still be serviced at that branch location. Once we have provided you a Chartway account number, all loan payments will need to be sent to our main office for mail processing, paid electronically or delivered in person to any Chartway branch.
Can I continue to access my account at the SB FCU/BAE site?
Yes. All SB FCU services will continue until we have transferred your account. Once your account is transferred, the SB FCU site will be converted to a full-service Chartway branch.
Can I use a Chartway branch before I receive my Chartway account number
Although we will not have your SB FCU information at that time, should you desire to move your account prior to our transferring it for you, simply visit any Chartway branch and they will establish your account as they would any new member. You would then be
responsible for moving the funds from SB FCU to Chartway and for changing any direct deposits that were being received by your SB FCU account. Loans, however, cannot be moved in this manner and will require our scheduled system transfer to move them for you.
Will there be a Chartway branch at BAE?
Yes. Once all SB FCU accounts have been transferred, the SB FCU site will be converted into a full-service Chartway branch, including account and cash services. You will then be able to open checking accounts, obtain ATM, check and credit cards, apply for loans and invest in a broader range of share certificates. Temporary staffing will be added to that
branch as we train the current employees on the Chartway computer system.
Will my share certificates move to Chartway?
Yes. Any share certificates will move to Chartway along with your account move. The rates and terms of the certificate will remain the same. When your certificate matures (based upon the original SB FCU maturity date), you will be afforded a broader selection of terms for reinvesting those certificates.
Will I incur any fees for services at Chartway?
Chartway does have various fees for certain services. For all SB FCU accounts we convert, we will waive any monthly fees that might be assessed until April 2007. Please refer to our fee disclosure or speak with a member specialist.
Will I be able to get cash from the new Chartway branch?
Yes. The BAE Chartway branch will be full service, offering a complete line of financial products and services with the exception of safe deposit box rentals. If you are interested in renting a safe deposit box, please speak with a member specialist who will be happy to help
you find a local branch with available boxes.
Will there be an ATM on the BAE site?
Two (2) ATMs are currently planned for installation at BAE. As a Chartway member, you will be able to access your account through these ATMs at no charge (using a Chartway ATM or check card).
Can my family and/or friends become Chartway members?
Yes. Immediate family members automatically qualify for membership. For the most part, anyone who lives, works, worships or goes to school in Southside Hampton Roads qualifies. Membership eligibility is subject to verification, so have your friends stop by or call today!
Will I be able to access my Chartway account(s) online?
Yes. Chartway’s free eBranch Internet Banking will allow you to view your account balances, transfer funds between accounts, make any loan payments and more. Please refer to our eBranch Services brochure for complete information about our online services.
What will the hours of operation be for the Chartway branch at BAE?
The branch hours will remain the same as the current SB FCU branch: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday & Saturday Closed
